Architecture
Construction work was interrupted in 1917 and the Pauline Chapel served as a cathedral for the next 40 years. In 1956, Louis-Napoléon Audet, then aged 75, returned to the site to complete one of the most important projects in Sherbrooke, the St. Michael's Basilica-Cathedral as seen today. It was consecrated on 28 September 1957 and raised to the status of minor basilica on 31 July 1959.
